It is with great regret that Joyce DiDonato must cancel her upcoming tour of Ariodante with her long time collaborator, Alan Curtis and Il Complesso Barocco, March 4 – 17. Due to a minor, but necessary medical reason, she is following her Doctor’s orders to cancel the European travel and tour. Joyce looks forward to returning to the stage later in March in a series of concerts with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, and thank her fans for their understanding in making this very difficult decision.

This was to be the highlight of my operatic year. I got tickets a year ago. In the excitement I even had them changed so we could be close to the stage. Close to Joyce. My friend from Chicago is coming especially for that. I’ve been e-mailing him pictures of the huge Joyce DiDinoto posters all over the Paris Metro. All the publicity of Versailles concerts has Joyce’s picture on it. I am distraught!!!
That’s very selfish of me to tell you all that. But don’t forget us here in Paris Joyce. We have loved you here for ever. Get well. And come back to Paris where you belong ASAP.
Wenda in Breda
I was so looking forward to hearing and seeing you perform Ariodante in “live” Rotterdam!!! My friend from Frankfurt and I booked our front row seats in october last year… I really hope there will be a chance soon, maybe even in Paris
Get better soon!

8 concerts (3 1/2 hours of opera) in 13 days while traveling around Europe. It must be exhausting for all involved. If its not the right time for you Joyce it’s a wise decision to cancel. We need you in good shape!! Keep well, we love you!

I was really sorry to hear of the cancellation, as I’d looked forward for months to last night’s Madrid performance.
For a little over three hours, Sarah Connolly helped us to forget that Joyce wasn’t there, which is perhaps the very best service she could give to Joyce, to the rest of the team, to Handel, and to us.
Hoping that your problems are resolved quickly and completely, and that you’ll be back soon!

I must admit that my heart got bruised by the fall it took when I heard these news. The concert in Amsterdam was something I had looked forward to for months, and I didn’t find this out until I arrived at the hotel (I’m from Sweden).
The concert ended a couple of hours ago, and while I initially found Sarah Connolly’s interpretation to be warm and strong, I also found myself longing a bit for Joyce’s passion and almost flirtatious style (as heard on the recording). But then came the “Cieca notte” aria, and Sarah’s somewhat deeper mezzo and beautiful interpretation was pure magic. That aria alone was worth the entire trip and taking three days off from work!
And the rest of the ensemble was of course stunning as well, not least Marie-Nicole Lemieux, who put the audience into a “applaud all the time” mode! A bit mood disrupting at times, but hey, it was heartfelt!
That said, I still sooo want to see and hear Joyce live. As soon as possible! Sweden perhaps?
John Kenneth Adams
Hello Joyce, Just tuned in to the news. Look forward to your return soon. I listened to the Berlioz live from London…a beautiful, sensitive performance! Best, as ever. John Adams

J’étais à Versailles ce soir, beau spectacle certes, mais votre voix et votre présence m’ont beaucoup manqué et ont manqué à Ariodante. J’espère que vous allez mieux. Revenez très vite faire rêver vos fans.
All my best wishes;
